Went to work for Boeing about 1 year ago, in Everett. Interviewed for and hired in as an Integrated Scheduler. The job I'm doing has absolutely nothing to do with Integrated Scheduling. In addition, management has abdicated the running of the department to leads......who have their favorites..........which is evident in the type of work people are "allowed" to do. 3 months of training, every day, lead me nowhere. I was better off sitting with someone and actually working the job. People don't know how to say "no" so they work overtime on types of work that really don't matter and have no purpose - other than as a "make work project." Even when people sleep at their desks, instead of doing the work they were hired to do, or they're off attending meetings or sitting through them (not really adding value) instead of doing what they were hired and get paid to do. They are the first on the list for overtime. Management seems blind to all of it. You know, I was warned NOT to go to work for Boeing. Wish I would've listened. Terrible, terrible, terrible and anyone even THINKING of going to work here should do intensive research and informational interviewing BEFORE they make that leap. Because once you're in a position, as anyone will tell you even though it's not really true, you are "stuck" for at least a year. Sad, really, because this could be such a Great company but there is far too much waste, overlap, inefficiency, etc. that goes on.
Reading your post provided comfort. I've been at Boeing for 2 years now and it has been a total, utter and complete disappointment. I've suffered with intense workplace bullying. It has effected me mentally, emotionally and physically. This is not to mention that I am completely exhausted. The levels of overtime that you work provide no life balance whatsoever. Management is incompetent. At this point, I'm full of regret and looking for a way out.
